NBA legend Julius Erving talks 'common sense' investment in National Thoroughbred League ahead of 2nd season
The NTL announced Thursday that Erving, as well as Country Music Hall of Famer Tanya Tucker, are new team owners ahead of its second season, which will see an expansion from six franchises to 10. Erving will be the owner of the Philadelphia Stallions, while Tucker will own the Nashville Dreams.

The NTL promises to be one of the “first truly co-ed sports leagues” with both male and female jockeys competing on the same teams at multi-race competitions. All the horses acquired will be owned by the league, which will grant the rights to race the horses to the teams. If a horse can no longer race and needs to be retired, the league has an agreement with the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance to be sure the horse finds a new home.
